How the assembly process works
A build is easier to manage when every handoff has clear inputs, decisions and an owner.
1. Release the design package
Supply fabrication data, BOM, placement file and assembly drawing with matching revisions. Include quantities, sourcing model, test requirements and target delivery.
2. Resolve engineering questions
Review material shortages, alternate parts, panel handling, orientation and special processes. Record approvals before purchasing and production begin.
3. Approve the quotation and schedule
Check what is included in the quoted price and when lead time starts. Separate fabrication, component procurement, assembly, testing and shipping where they follow different schedules.
4. Assemble and inspect
Use a first-article checkpoint where agreed. The assembler should follow the approved revision and handle any departures through the agreed change process.
5. Test, record and deliver
Complete the specified electrical or functional tests, record the results required by the order and use packaging appropriate for the boards and components.
Start with a consistent release
Use the file requirements checklist to prepare the package, then share your project requirements.
